In this compact Laguna Niguel home, our team’s space planning skills were put to the test. The result was a completely redesigned kitchen that flaunted both beauty and efficiency. Keep reading to learn how we managed to make a seemingly hopeless, tiny kitchen into the most luxurious part of the house. When our team arrived on the scene, the kitchen was very cluttered, cramped, and dark. The homeowners didn't have much space to work with, so they resorted to stuffing things wherever they could. Its un-tidiness made the whole living space feel messy and suffocating, and the white finish on everything further diminished the appearance of space. Our team of professional Orange County contractors set out to plan a smart and efficient system that would solve all storage problems while lightening up the atmosphere. Restructuring The redesign stage had one simple goal: streamline everything. We set out to make the most of the little space available by using carefully chosen materials and storage configurations so that no part of the kitchen was wasted. We started with installing custom Euro style cabinets in rich African Mahogany that smoldered with a Perfect Brown finish. Contrary to popular belief, using dark colors in a small space actually helps it to appear larger. This principle was applied by wrapping the dark wood all around the room, relying on the shaded hue to recede back and thus visually open up the area. The cleverly planned cabinets feature imported Birch plywood interiors, glass panels, and dark Belcastel knobs and handles. With pull out drawers and stacked interior shelving hidden behind the new cupboards, the residents can now easily find a place for everything while keeping the kitchen pristine. And with the newly built bar area, there is added seating space as well. The warm tones of the Brazilian Cherry Jatoba wood flooring from Ark’s Sonoma collection play well off the cabinet’s deep color, as does the earthy gray tone of the Pacifica Wholesale Crema Bordeaux countertops with a 1 ½” Navid edge. To add even more interesting texture to the room, a tile backsplash was installed over most of the wall surface. The main part consists of Arizona Tile’s Split Face Pueblo Stone, and the lining tiles are Pacifica Wholesale’s Pacifica Pencil Liner Noce. Behind the stovetop range, a vineyard-themed plaque provided by the client serves as a personalized focal point. Appliances Rather than take up counter space by placing a microwave on top, a 24” Sharp Microwave Drawer was installed among the drawers beneath the bar area’s countertop. Opposite from this can be found a stainless steel Samsung 28 cu. ft. 4 Door Refrigerator with Counter-Height FlexZone Drawer and two laundry machines hidden behind custom folding cabinets. Thanks to the wealth of space opened up by the redesigned cabinetry, there was plenty of room to make up for the fact that the home lacked a proper laundry room. Further to the right is a 24” Bosch Pocket Handle Dishwasher, and a new farmhouse sink. Underneath a bronze textured hood is a GE Cafe Series 30” Free-Standing Gas Double Oven with Convection Range. Its large oven capacity of 6.7 cu. ft. allows the residents to cook multiple items at once, a must-have feature for such a small kitchen. Traditional Style Design Build Kitchen Remodel in Irvine Orange County

In this Irvine home remodel, we transformed a ho-hum kitchen into one of functional luxury. Our general contracting experts used their skills in both construction and interior design to create a  space with maximum storage and style. Read on to discover how we made it possible. Before our team was called in, this kitchen was dated and bland. Ancient patterned wallpaper clashed with the sterile white tile countertops, and there simply wasn’t enough room for storing all of the client’s dishes and ingredients. This led to cluttered countertops and messy cabinets that were tedious to go through. Furthermore, the space was tightly walled-in, and was un-hospitably separated from the dining room. Our main goal was to use this renovation to make the kitchen a much more pleasant place for the homeowner to spend time in, and functional enough to make cooking and entertaining a breeze. Restructuring Our first task in revamping this kitchen was to take down the oppressive wall that separated it from the dining room. To create an open feel without losing cabinet or counter space, we opted for a bar-style cutout that provided a clear view into the dining area. Custom Montebello style cabinets in African Mahogany were installed, instantly upgrading the kitchen’s level of sophistication. Dark knobs and handles by Rhodes keep the look sleek and sumptuous.   These handsome cabinets wrap all the way around the kitchen, and even form the base of the new large island in the center. To solve the client’s storage problem, we got creative. Cleverly placed drawers and shelves were installed within the cabinets to take advantage of every nook and cranny. The countertops were made from rustic Cambria Linconshire material, with double-layered round beveled edges for refinement. Behind the sink and stovetop areas, an understated backsplash of earth-toned Durango Travertine tiles adds an unexpected level of detail to the kitchen’s new look. Appliances The appliances were chosen to blend in well, rather than take center stage. This allows for the gorgeous texture of the dark wooden cabinets to be the primary focus. In fact, the new GE Profile Counter-Depth 23.3 cu. ft. Refrigerator was faced with the same wood paneling, making it a natural part of the kitchen’s aesthetic flow. Near the entryway of the kitchen, a stainless steel Double Combination Oven from the Masterpiece Series is nestled conveniently next to an area of open countertop. Another piece from the Masterpiece Series, a Deluxe Glass Cooktop, overlooks the dining room to allow for friendly conversation with guests while cooking.  A Blanco Diamond double-bowl sink was installed in front of the window, and to its left, a Thermador Washing Machine is also paneled with the same cabinet wood. Design Build Transitional Kitchen Remodel with Thermador Appliances

A Laguna Niguel engineer with a passion for cooking called upon APlus to bring his vision of a chef’s kitchen to life. Read about our process below to discover how we transformed a once boring kitchen into a sleek room fit for a gourmand.

It’s safe to say that the original kitchen was far from meeting the needs of our client. Its dingy green coloring made it an eyesore, and it hardly any counter space or storage options. Tucked away in the corner, the old kitchen felt more like a hastily-built afterthought, rather than a space intended for daily use and enjoyment. It certainly wasn’t capable of being a host to frequent meal preparations. It was up to us to turn this underwhelming room into a place that matched the resident’s contemporary style and exacting design preferences.

 Restructuring

We began this project by pulling the floorplan outward, rather than leaving everything crowded against the corner. Around the entire room were installed Euro style cabinets in a deep hued, paint grade maple wood, with 3” Shaker type doors and a Dark Manganese finish. These custom cabinets feature Hard Rock Melamine interiors, as well as glass inset panels and shelves. At the center of the kitchen, a large island can be used as a preparation surface, or even as a seating area. The crisp white finish of LG Hausys Minuet countertops with an angularly sloping Navid edge keep the surfaces feeling clean and modern. Eleganza Anticho Maple flooring gives a slightly rustic touch to the room, ensuring that the space doesn’t feel too sterile. The warm color of the wood is contrasted by a natural stone texture backsplash in gray, made from Arizona Tile’s Victoria edition from the Waterfall series, with a Schluter style metal brushed nickel finish for a touch of s9hine. We also changed out the kitschy sunflower railing on the home’s spiral staircase for something that matched the new refinement of the kitchen. Dark iron railings with swirling filigree flow with the natural movement of the stairway, making it a graceful point of interest for the main living area.

 Thermador Appliances

Because the resident wanted a top-of-the-line kitchen that was up to the task of frequent cooking, we looked to Thermador to provide premium appliances. By sticking to a stainless steel finish for all of the new appliances, we subtly tied in the metallic accents of the cabinet knobs and handles, as well as the backsplash liner. The focal point of the kitchen is made up of a Thermador 36” Masterpiece Chimney Pull-Out Drawer Hood placed over a Thermador Pro Harmony 36” Gas Range with 5.0 cu. ft. Convection Oven. With the range top’s 6 star burners, full-course meals can be prepared without any shortage of space. For cleanup after meals, the Thermador 24” Topaz Dishwasher serves as a compact powerhouse. On the right side of the kitchen, a Thermador 48” Side-by-Side Refrigerator has been installed flush with the cabinetry, as was a GE Profile 1.1 cu. ft. Microwave and a U Line Wine Captain 1000 Series Wine Refrigerator. This cooler’s size is deceptive: though it measures only 24” wide, it has a capacity of up to 48 bottles. Kitchen

This Yorba Linda kitchen remodeling project resulted in a dramatic change. Before, the kitchen was dull and dated, with oppressively dark cabinetry, dreary mauve countertops, and clashing white appliances. After, the room became a light-filled retreat fit for indulging in gourmet cooking and entertaining guests. All new high end cabinets were immediately installed. Paint-grade maple with Shaker doors and Jianas molding was split into two colors: Dark Manganese for the lower half of the kitchen to add sophistication, and crisp DE Swiss Coffee for the upper half to bring brightness to the space. A Wolf 36” Sealed Burner Rangetop makes a statement with its red control knobs beneath a new white and stainless steel striped hood. Behind the rangetop, brushed stainless steel Maniscalco tiles form a shimmeringl full height backsplash. Wolf L Series Built-In Double Ovens were installed to the right of the Sub-Zero 48” Refrigerator, which has been outfitted with custom white panels to match with the kitchen’s upper cabinetry. Choosing a double convection model for the oven provided the homeowners with a kitchen better able to accommodate their frequent cooking and baking. Next to the ovens and just beneath the new 1 ½” straight stone edge Bianco Romano granite countertops was placed a Wolf 24” Drawer Microwave Oven.

Entertainment Center & Bar

The fact that the kitchen opens up to the living room made the former light-wood entertainment center and bar big mismatches. To bring a sense of unity, custom cabinets were built in the same style and color as those of the kitchen, and outfitted with the same striking granite countertops. A hidden sound center was crafted into the top compartment of the entertainment center, along with completely customized drawers and shelves to accommodate the residents’ collection of tech. At the attached bar, we installed a Sub-Zero 24” Undercounter Beverage Center with a UV-resistant glass door perfect for keeping fine spirits chilled and fresh, in addition to an Everest 17” x 17” Bar Sink with satin finish.  

Laundry Room

The laundry room became a place where chores now feel like an escape, thanks to the bright and clean spa-like update. 1 ½” Pantel quartz group C countertops keep things crisp with their sparkling white polished finish, and a First Snow honed Daltile backsplash enhances the effect. Scratch resistant white Thermofoil cabinets with white melamine interiors provide ideal durability for this frequently used area, while matching the classic monochrome scheme. Our expertise was called upon for a complete home remodel Tustin homeowners were eager to get underway. When looking at the pre-renovation state of the home, it’s easy to see why. The plain and standard look of every room simply didn’t mesh at all with the residents’ penchant for bold style. Read on to discover how this Tustin home remodel created a wow-worthy abode.

Kitchen

The once ho-hum kitchen was made up of light maple cabinets, white appliances, and dark granite countertops. We turned this Tustin Kitchen remodeling project into a knockout example of how even the most “vanilla” of spaces can gain va-va-voom status. Dark Manganese craftsman style cabinets with Montebello molding were constructed out of African mahogany wood. These high end cabinets instantly gave the room a swanky, upscale feel. Their hard rock melamine interiors, lami white glass panels, and under-cabinet lighting contrast beautifully with the pearlescent Pental Ayoka quartz countertops and backsplash rendered from Eleganza’s Mystic Blends tiles in Sinai. A large kitchen island was built as well, featuring a seating area, storage drawers, and an Avanti Built-In Wine Chiller with digital control panel and security lock. Brand new stainless steel appliances were installed, matching the subtle traces of silver found on the cabinetry and walls. A Windster Wall-Mounted Hood  over a Jenn-Air 30” Pro-Style Gas Range takes center stage, while to the right, sleek Jenn-Air 30” Combination Microwave & Wall Ovens line up beside a 25 cu. ft. LG 3 Door French Door Refrigerator in a premium stainless steel finish. The left side of the kitchen boasts a 32” x 19 ½” Blanco Performa Cascade Super Single Undermount Sink composed of 80% solid granite and a minimalistic Jenn-Air Dishwasher. Eleganza Eco-Tuscany flooring in Vanilla serves as a handsome blank canvas upon which all of this can shine.

Master Bathroom

For a cohesive look, the homeowners chose to have their bathrooms echo the refinement found in the kitchen. They used the same dark, sleek cabinetry, marbled flooring, and shimmering quartz countertops in the master bathroom. The his and hers sinks were updated with new fixtures and individual mirrors. Eleganza Contempo tiles in Arctic Matte make up the bath and shower walls, while the very mosaic backsplash found in the kitchen makes an appearance behind the shower’s all-glass encasement.

Guest Bathroom & Laundry Room

Much of the same aesthetic and materials of the master bathroom is present here, save for the wheaten-hued MSI Almond Creme countertop. A dividing wall between the sink area and the rest of the bathroom has been cleared to open up the space. New white wraparound cabinetry with white melamine panels immediately made the laundry room feel more elegant. White paint replaced the tan that formerly covered the walls, leaving the durable MSI Almond Creme countertops to take on the role of adding warmth.

Entryway and Living Room

The sweeping gallery style stairs were elegant in their shape, but the unremarkable beige color they were coated with made them almost melt into the background. A simple update of daring black paint on the railings provided contrast, transforming the stairs into a breathtaking focal point of the home’s entryway. The sitting area and hallway of the entry space features Johnson Hardwood from the English Pub Series in Maple Brandy Wine, which also runs into the dining room, and further back into the home, the living room. Palisade baseboard casings and crown moldings add neatness to these spaces. Passing through the hall is found a handsome built-in hutch with custom cabinets in the same white maple construction and craftsman style as the laundry room. At the fireplace wall, once again the mosaic tile theme is present, surrounded by the same ivory flooring tiles found throughout the rest of the home. Foothill Ranch Complete Kitchen Remodel

The sleekness of contemporary style was blended with traditional motifs in the remodeling of this Foothill Ranch kitchen. A complete overhaul of cabinetry was done, replacing the old cupboards and drawers with craftsman style cabinets in sumptuously dark African mahogany. Frosted glass panels and the accents of simple silver hardware keep their look clean and sophisticated. This same mahogany was used to build the large center island, which features drawers and space for leather bar stools to be slid beneath. All of this construction was done to maximize the storage space of the kitchen, as well as provide an area for the family’s casual dining and gathering. Both the center island and surrounding surfaces are topped with crisp white granite. This countertop finish provides a striking contrast to the shaded hue of the kitchen’s storage, and ties in elegantly with the subtle ivory tones found on the walls and shimmering tile backsplash installed behind the stove area. A stainless steel Anzio range hood serves as the focal point of this space, matching well with the kitchen’s other stainless steel appliances. These appliances include a large GE Cafe refrigerator, a Regatta sink by Franke, and a Bosch dishwasher, as well as a 30 inch convection combination microwave wall oven, and a gas cooktop, both by KitchenAid. Their metallic sheen is kept from feeling too modern by the rich, earthy hues found in the new hardwood floor. San Clemente Black & White Modern G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Sophia Line Cabinets

Read on below to learn how we transformed an aging traditional kitchen into a modern work of art in this San Clemente home.

Before

When we arrived onsite, the clients showed us a kitchen that was starting to become dated. The combination of black marbled countertops with golden oak cabinets is a trend years past, and it had a too-predictable look for our contemporary-minded clients. They wanted to break the mold by going with an all new modern design, leaving this traditional scene behind.

Restructuring

In order to make the most efficient use of the space in this small kitchen, the homeowners elected to keep the original G-Shaped layout. This allowed us to keep the existing surface area of the countertops and even expand upon it. By knocking out the old cabinets and building new ones from our Sophia Line that only hover overhead or beneath the countertops, we opened up several pockets of space that were formerly blocked by empty cabinetry. The clients chose our Sophia Line Cabinets with Euro construction, Slab horizontal doors, and a Sophia veneer. The sumptuous Black Artika finish is exclusive to our Sophia Line, giving the cabinets a look that can be found nowhere else on the market. Naraghi Frosted Mirror glass doors up the sophistication with a pale matte look that ties in well with the crisp Pental Super White Honed Quartz countertops with 1 ½” Navid edge.  All of the handles and drawer pulls chosen for the cabinets have a minimalistic shape and stainless steel finish, keeping with the new modern theme. In the back left corner, a full height cabinet casing was built for the refrigerator, and next to it, a large pantry cupboard with roll-out trays and deep shelves for ultimate storage space.

Appliances

Thermador supplied many of the new appliances, including the Thermador Topaz 24” Dishwasher and Thermador 30” Masterpiece Series Single Oven with Professional Handle, both placed next to the kitchen’s two Artisan Chef Pro Undermount Sinks with apron fronts and stainless steel finishes. Also from Thermador is the Thermador Professional Series 36” Porcelain Rangetop which was augmented with a pull-up Dacor Renaissance Epicure 36” Raised Vent, and the 18” Freezer Column paired with a 30” Built-In Fresh Food Column to create an oversized refrigerator. A GE Profile 1.1 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave is set into the cabinetry above the oven. To the left in the bar area, a U-Line Origins Refrigerator, Wine Captain and Beverage Center was sunk beneath the countertop and encased in the cabinetry, facing outward to rest beside the custom inset wall-shelving we built for the clients’ wine and liquor collection.
