Lake Forest Contemporary Brown Whole House Remodel

The owners of this Lake Forest home had a young family, and they wanted a home that could more easily accommodate both their sense of style and a familial atmosphere.

Before

The living room had levels of sunken flooring, which was a safety hazard for their young children. A wall also separated the kitchen from the living room, making it so that whoever was cooking couldn't still interact with or keep an eye on the children. The kitchen didn't offer much storage or working  space. In the bathrooms, dated motifs characterized the overall look.

Restructuring

To maximize the feel of spaciousness and give a line of sight to the dining area and living room, we knocked out the separating wall in the kitchen and placed in a large corner support beam. A large window formerly took up a great deal of wall space next to the sliding door. Our team patched in the old window, prepping a solid wall that cabinets and counters could be built against. Pacific Treasures Pebble Beach maple flooring replaced the old tile, giving a slightly rustic influence to the new design. Lake Forest Design Build Home & Kitchen Remodel4 Lake Forest Design Build Home & Kitchen Remodel3 We abandoned the old wall-hugging layout, instead installing new cabinetry to create a G-shaped kitchen. The clients chose Euro Face & Frame style custom cabinets in maple with Shaker doors. A deep Elegant Brown finish and stainless steel bar handles on all the drawers and doors established a sleek yet warm contemporary aesthetic. In some of the cabinet doors, glass panes were inlaid so that dishes could be easily seen. On the dining-room side of the support beam, the glass paneled doors put the owner’s fine china collection on display. A stout island with storage was placed in the center of the kitchen to add workspace. It and the rest of the surfaces were fixed with Pental Quartz countertops in a pale Canyon Polished finish and 1 ½” Single Beveled edge. On the back wall, a Unicorn tile backsplash adds extra texture to the kitchen’s look.

Appliances

All new appliances chosen for the kitchen feature a stainless steel finish. A Sub-Zero Built-In Over-and-Under with French Door Refrigerator was placed amid the cabinets against the wall where the old window formerly was. To the right, a KOHLER Stages Undercounter Stainless Steel 33” Single Bowl Kitchen Sink faces a bright backyard window. The AJ Madison Dishwasher sits between the sink and the new Wolf 36” Gas Cooktop, which is topped by a Wolf 36” Cooktop Wall Ventilation Hood. Set within the corner support beam is a Wolf L Series 30” Built-In Single Oven and Microwave.

Living Room

Lake Forest Design Build Home & Kitchen Remodel2 Lake Forest Design Build Home & Kitchen Remodel6 We raised sunken flooring and replaced the old tile with the same maple flooring found in the kitchen. All of the drywall was patched up to ensure clean borders. We also installed a wall mount for the owner’s large flat-screen TV.

Fireplace

We covered the old brick fireplace construction with drywall and created a more modern looking mantel out of sleek gray tiles and a thick wooden shelf. Since the fireplace is located in the family room, the mantel shelf serves as a great new spot to display favorite toys. 67 - Lake Forest Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel2

Bathrooms

The bathrooms were outfitted to have the same cabinetry and countertops as the kitchen. Large seamless mirrors were placed in, as well as updated light fixtures. In the master bathroom, we built a new shower enclosure with glass walls and a tile backsplash. It also features a multi-shelf built-in soap niche. Dove Canyon Traditional Brown U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Hood

Sitting on the edge of the wild expanse that is the Cleveland National Forest, this Dove Canyon home deserved an updated look inspired by the woods.

Before

When we were first called in, our team was met with a gray and white kitchen that didn't make the best use of space. Appliances were stuffed in between bulky cabinets that didn't have efficient shelving - something that was a big inconvenience for the owners. A peninsula bar area also created a barrier that separated the kitchen from the living area, stifling the flow of the space. We were tasked with not only giving the kitchen a warmer look, but improving the layout and storage options as well.

Restructuring

We started by knocking out all of the original structures in the kitchen, including the peninsula bar. This freed up the room to create a more open U-shaped layout. We also installed new bay windows, which let in far more light and added more visual space. 66 - Dove Canyon Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel6 66 - Dove Canyon Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel2 The owners wanted a contrast between warm wood cabinetry and something lighter, so we went with a light color scheme for the base of the new large kitchen island, and a medium brown finished maple for the rest of the cabinets. The traditional cabinets were built with a Euro & Face Frame style, with Nadia doors. All of the drawers and cabinets were given dark knobs and handles to be in keeping with the earthy color palette. The countertops were made out of Bedrosians granite in a Typhoon Bordeaux finish with a 1 ½” Double Ogee Edge. custom_kitchen_remodel_Dove_canyon_Orange_county00050custom_kitchen_remodel_Dove_canyon_Orange_county00011custom_kitchen_remodel_Dove_canyon_Orange_county00043custom_kitchen_remodel_Dove_canyon_Orange_county00009 In the kitchen island facing the stove, a series of spice and can racks were installed for easy access while cooking. Beneath the new stove top, we put in large, deep drawers that now hold all of the owner’s cooking pans. To the right is a pull-out rack for cooking oils and sauces, and to the left, a folding corner cabinet contains lazy susans that prevent the need for digging through the storage. 66 - Dove Canyon Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel5 66 - Dove Canyon Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel3 Above the stove area we built a 66” long custom wooden hood in an industrial style. This stately piece serves as the focal point of the kitchen. Beneath it, a Durango tile backsplash was placed on the wall to add even more character. Additional shelving was placed atop the section were the new oven and microwave now sit. The vertical shelves enable easy grabbing and sorting.

Appliances

To achieve a cohesive look for the kitchen, all of the appliances were chosen from the GE Monogram® collection, in a stainless steel finish. The custom hood construction was outfitted with a 36" Custom Hood Insert. Beneath it, a new 36" Professional Gas Rangetop with 6 Burners serves as the stove. On the right side of the kitchen, the cabinets were built to sit flush around a 42" Built-In Professional Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Dispenser and Water Filter, and the stacked Built-In Advantium Microwave Oven and GE Monogram 30” Built-In Single Oven that lie next to it.

Wine Cabinet

Just outside the kitchen was a small alcove the owners wanted to turn into a wine area. We slightly recessed the wall to make room for a robust wine cabinet, custom-built to match the medium brown wood of the kitchen’s cabinetry. In the center was placed a GE Monogram Wine Reserve with Liquid Crystal Privacy Glass. The countertop provides plenty of room for serving wine. 66 - Dove Canyon Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel8 66 - Dove Canyon Custom Design Build Kitchen Remodel The beautiful results of this Dove Canyon Orange County kitchen renovation can be achieved in your home as well. Contemporary U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with White Custom Cabinets in Irvine

An Irvine home needed a breath of fresh air when it came to design, so its owners called on APlus to execute a unique and beautiful renovation.

Before

The dark colors and close quarters of the original kitchen felt too oppressive, making the room one that wasn’t very pleasant to spend much time in. Considering that the kitchen is one of the rooms most often used by this client, this was simply unacceptable. We were tasked with making the space not only more pleasant, but also more practical. 2A - Chandsawang Before 4A - Chandsawang Before 5A - Chandsawang Before 1A - Chandsawang Before

Restructuring

There wasn’t anything about the old construction that the homeowner wanted to preserve, so we demolished the entire kitchen. This allowed us to start with a blank canvas. First, we installed bay windows to let in the light and create more counter space. Then, we got to work on the floors - dark hardwood planks from Gemwoods’ Pacific Treasures collection in a “Laguna Beach” finish. Contemporary U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with White Custom Cabinets in Irvine Contemporary U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with White Custom Cabinets in Irvine We also built all-new custom cabinetry, with a multitude of drawers and pull-outs for easy organization. The cabinets were made in a Euro style construction out of paint grade maple, with Jianas doors and a creamy white De Swiss paint finish. Countertops were chosen from Pental - marbled quartz in Sierra Polished gray with 1 ½” straight edges for a sleek look. An island was constructed in the kitchen’s center to provide casual seating and extra space for food preparation. To provide contrast, its cabinetry was finished with a dark black hue. The tiles were Grey Arizona Tiles and Newport Eleganza Tiles.

Appliances

In order to maintain the clean, simple design of the new kitchen, the client chose appliances that were unobtrusive and could be installed flush with the counters and cabinets. An Ancona Rapido Chef II Range Hood was placed over a GE Cafe Free-Standing Range Gas Double Oven with Convection. To the right in a small built-in cubby is a Panasonic 2.2 cu. ft. Full-Size Microwave. The Fireplace in the living room was also completely redone with brand new custom mantle painted custom white along with white stone complimenting this beautiful custom home remodel in Irvine Orange County. White G-Shaped Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel with Custom Cabinetry in Irvine

We helped an Irvine family make their home feel brighter and fresher with renovations throughout the house, including the living, bathroom, and kitchen.

Before

Prior to demolition, this kitchen was old and generic. With outdated oak cabinets, mismatching appliances, and busily patterned flooring, it was hardly easy on the eyes. One great feature was the large greenhouse-style window section with a view of the yard. Thanks to that, the kitchen had the potential to be beautifully airy and bright. The living room and adjacent bathroom was also in much need of a facelift. White G-Shaped Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel with Custom Cabinetry in Irvine White G-Shaped Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel with Custom Cabinetry in Irvine

Restructuring

The clients decided to keep the original G-shaped layout in order to maximize the amount of counter space and storage. We started by knocking out all of the old cabinetry and replacing it with custom-built constructions that made a more efficient use of the space available. Euro face & frame style cabinets in paint grade maple feature both Jianas and Shaker doors. They were given a Straight White finish. To add to the pristine look, we topped the cabinets with subtle Marble Express countertops in Galaxy White. White G-Shaped Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel with Custom Cabinetry in Irvine White G-Shaped Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel with Custom Cabinetry in Irvine Much of the wall surface in the kitchen was covered with a tile backsplash, specifically Eleganza tiles in Vivaldi Winter - a cool dove gray. We relaid the flooring with planks from the Johnson Hardwood Pacific Coast series in the Palisades finish to give the neutral-toned kitchen a warm base. This hardwood was extended through the living room, and into the bathroom as well. The corner cabinet was taken out of the living room, freeing up the space for seating. We refaced the old stone fireplace with sleek, modern Metalwood Argento tiles. In the bathroom, we kept things simple by installing a dark corner cabinet for the sink, with the same marbled surface as the kitchen.

Appliances

In order to give the kitchen a neater appearance than it originally had, it was important to select matching appliances. The client opted for a stainless steel theme. We installed an LG 3 Door French Door Refrigerator to be flush with the cabinetry. A GE Profile 30” Free-Standing Gas Range was topped with a Kobe Premium Wall Mount Hood. Next to the Blanco Diamond Super Single Dual Mount Sink was placed a stainless steel dishwasher with a minimalistic design. 80 - Irvine - Custom Kitchen Remodel4 80 - Irvine - Custom Kitchen Remodel6   If you’d like to enliven your home in Irvine or another part of Orange County, contact us today. Transitional Style Gray & White G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets in Trabuco Canyon

The owners of this Trabuco Canyon home saw the potential for great design in their kitchen, and called on APlus to help make their vision a reality. Read on to learn how we transformed this kitchen into a sleek, transitional masterpiece.

Before

The former kitchen was small and L-shaped, with bright yellow walls and basic white cabinets. This setup may have looked cheery enough with proper lighting, but the dim illumination of this kitchen gave it a sallow tinge. There was so much more space to be made use of, but the old construction and layout just didn’t take advantage of it. Transitional Style Gray & White G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets in Trabuco CanyonTransitional Style Gray & White G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets in Trabuco CanyonTransitional Style Gray & White G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets in Trabuco Canyon

Restructuring

We did a complete overhaul on this kitchen. Every bit of the old construction was demolished, making room for a 100% new design. We custom built new Euro style maple cabinets in a G-shape that outlined the entirety of the kitchen, giving the space unity and providing ample storage. The new cabinets flaunt 3” Shaker doors, and a clean Straight White paint finish. Atop the cabinets we set 1 ½” bevel edged Pental Quartz counters in a Coastal Grey Polished hue. Transitional Style Gray & White G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets in Trabuco Canyon Transitional Style Gray & White G-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets in Trabuco Canyon To complement the cool slate gray coloring of the new countertops, we installed new full-height tile backsplashes on all of the free wall space with Bedrosians tiles in “Surf” from the Hamptons collection. An accent backsplash was placed above the cooking range, composed of Lunada Bay tiles in stone & pewter. A bar area was made out of the cabinets and counter at the edge of the kitchen. To accommodate the client’s wine collection, we built a wine-rack into the outer side of the cabinetry beneath the bar, as well as wine-rack shelving to the right on the opposite side of the kitchen’s entry. For our finishing touch, we fixed the kitchen’s lighting problem by adding plenty of modern recessed lighting in the ceiling.

Appliances

Beneath the bright window we put in a Shaw’s Fireclay Apron Sink by Rohl, creating a simple yet beautiful focal point. To its right is a Bosch 24” Bar Handle Dishwasher. Continuing in this direction, you’ll find the Bosch 36” Stainless Steel Cooktop with Touch Controls, and a matching hood overhead. Next to it is a stylish KithenAid Wine Cellar Refrigerator set within the cabinetry. A KitchenAid Architect Series II Built-In Combination Oven rests on the far side of the kitchen, just across from the LG 3 Door French Door Refrigerator. All appliances have a stainless steel finish. Santa Ana Modern Gray U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Sophia Line Custom Cabinets

Unusually-shaped kitchens aren't doomed to forever have awkward designs. Read on to see how we remedied such a space with a full kitchen remodel!

Before

This Santa Ana kitchen was built in a tight corner, making a tapered U-shaped layout a necessity. But the original setup didn't make the most of the little space available, and certainly did the home no favors in terms of style. We were called in to give this angular kitchen an update - both in terms of looks and efficiency. Santa Ana Modern Gray U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Sophia Line Custom CabinetsSanta Ana Modern Gray U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Sophia Line Custom Cabinets

Restructuring

In order to accomplish the full-scale makeover this kitchen needed, we had to completely gut the room. All old cabinets, counters, floors, and appliances were removed. We started the reconstruction process by installing new hardwood floors from Eleganza’s Hampton collection, in a charcoal-toned Black Walnut finish. Then, we crafted Euro construction cabinets from our exclusive Sophia Line, with Slab style doors and a veneer of stone-like City Oak. The cabinets sport melamine interiors, and soft-close drawers, along with large, stainless steel hand pulls in a minimalistic bar shape. To give the modern cabinetry a homey touch, we also built shelves at the end to hold family photographs and the owner’s camera collection. These shelves face the custom built mantle of the fireplace, which is composed out of Eleganza’s Studio Nero Rustic and Eremosa Avorio tiles.   The new 1 ½” square miter edged Super White Polished Pental Quartz counter tops are so crisp and bright that they almost seem to be a part of the kitchen’s freshly painted white walls, creating an illusion of added space. The Arizona Tiles Islandia Aruba Glossy  back-splash adds subtle texture to the white walls without interrupting the enlarging visual effect.

Appliances

Our client was very selective about the appliances they wanted in their new modern kitchen. They chose items from several of the industry’s premier brands. An Empire Everest Under-Mounted Sink was placed in front of the kitchen window, and to its right, a Bosch 24” Bar Handle Ascenta Stainless Steel Dishwasher. Encased in the tall cabinetry to the left is a  LG 3 Door 25 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator, next to a GE Profile Series 1.1 cu. ft. Counter-top Microwave Oven which is also installed within the cabinet structure. Santa Ana Modern Gray U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Sophia Line Modern Cabinets Santa Ana Modern Gray U-Shaped Kitchen Remodel with Sophia Line Modern Cabinets On the opposite side of the kitchen a Zephyr Anzio Wall Hood sparkles under the new recessed lighting, complementing the glossy finish of the tile back-splash it is placed against. Beneath it is a KitchenAid 30” Freestanding and Slide-In Gas Range, which combines storage, stove top cooking, and oven baking all into one appliance.
